Prof. Givi Gavardashvili, the Eco Center Director, was on his business trip in Padua (Italy), where the International Conference “Vajont-2013” dedicated to the 50th anniversary of Vajont dam catastrophe (1963-2013) was held. At the Conference, Mr. G. Gavardashvili delivered a speech “Predicting floods in case of Sioni earth dam accident”.

At the end of the Conference presentations, a field-professional excursion to Vajont dam was organized. By the end of the Conference, the speaker branch scientists were granted awarded with the certificates.

Besides the presentations (in the conference hall and near Vajont dam), a meeting with the following branch scientists from different countries was held: Prof. Rinaldo Cenevoi (Italy), Dean of the Faculty of Geology at Padua University, Prof. Jana Schneider of Vienna University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (Austria), Prof. Jongui Vanga of Kyoto University (Japan), Prof. Taro Udicha of the National Institute of Japan Environmental and Infrastructural Development, Mr. Alexander Storm, Doctor of Technical Sciences, the Head of the Seismic Department of Russian JSC “Hydroproject Institute”, Mr. Joseph Hatzor, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor of the Geological and Environmental Protection Department of Ben Gurion University, Prof. Francesco Federico, Doctor of Technical Sciences, a hydraulic engineer of the Department of Civil Engineering at Rome University, Ms. Elena Piantel, the representative of company LAIKA and representatives of company SISGEO.
