July 29 – August 4, 2013 Borjomi, Tbilisi

The 3rd International Scientific-Technical Conference on “Modern problems of Environmental Protection, Architecture and Building” in remembrance of Prof. Vakhtang Tevzadze was held in the conference hall of the Agency of the Protected Area of Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park in the city of Borjomi (No. 23, Meskheti street, Borjomi). The arrangement was organized by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, Institute of Water Management of Georgian Technical University and Environmental Protection Eco Center.

The Conference was opened at 9:30 am, July 31, 2013, and the scientists, doctoral candidates and PhDs from six countries – Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Russia and Iran took part. Total 46 papers were presented at the Conference, including 21 papers from Georgia, 15 papers from Armenia, 6 papers from Azerbaijan, 2 papers from Russia, 1 paper from Iran and 1 paper from Turkey.

The Conference was opened by Prof. Givi Gavardashvili, Doctor of Technical Sciences, the Eco Center Director and Head of the Conference Organization Committee. He addressed the Conference participants. His speech was followed by a minute of silence in honor of Professor Vakhtang Tevzadze. The words of welcome were delivered by co-managers of the Organization Committee: Prof. Oganes Tokmajian, Rector of Armenian State University of Building and Architecture and Prof. Parda Imanov, Dean of the Faculty of Geography of Baku State University. In addition to the business-like relations, the Conference was marked by friendly and cordial relations among the scientific workers typical to all of their meetings. The participants underlined the role of this International Conference not only in the development of science and experience exchange, but also in the restoration of peace in the Caucasus region.

The course of the Conference was highlighted on TV channel of Samtskhe-Javakheti region (See http://borjomi.tv/?menuid=14&id=463&lang=1) and printed media of the newspaper “Borjomi”.
